Contributions
Probably the best thing to do is to share the wiki on Reddit or Discord when appropriate, for example: if someone is having issues with a modding topic, you can send them a link to said topic from this wiki. Share a link related to their issue and you will be helping a lot! This is a valid modding resource, completely fine to be shared and referenced. You will be helping a lot by doing that!
Wiki Editing
Everyone can make and edit wiki pages, but their edits will have to be approved first by trusted modders to prevent vandalism and other issues.
Both coders and artists are needed! Artists can make tutorials and guides on how to approach RimWorld's art style.
Direct Wiki Contributors can:
- Edit and add additional information on existing pages. Note: how exactly will that be handled is still yet to be decided.
- Create new pages on topics that they are experienced in.
- The criteria for editing and creating new pages is quite simple: to be as detailed and precise as possible, as well as give examples. No deep technical knowledge is required as long as the information is accurate.
- Put their names in the Credits of that page (I want people to be recognized by their hard work, this is extremely time-consuming!).
- Take as much time as needed to add or edit pages, there's no rush or deadlines.
Feedback
Another way to contribute to the wiki is through feedback! You don't need modding knowledge for that. If something is not clear, let the editors know about it, so the wiki can be improved! If the wiki lacks an interesting topic, let the editors know. You can discuss with the team better ways to handle and teach knowledge in the wiki.
Proof-reading
Some editors, including myself, don't speak English as their mother language. If a phrase is poorly written you can suggest how to improve the grammar, or a way to make it more understandable.
Fact-checking
Let editors know there are mistakes and incorrect information in the wiki, that way you are helping the wiki be as precise as possible.
